About the Society

The Brevard County Medical Society (BCMS) was established in 1904. It is a professional and scientific organization of medical and osteopathic physicians in Brevard County, and is the local affiliate of both the Florida Medical Association (FMA) and the American Medical Association (AMA).

Although membership is voluntary, physicians choose to join because they know that team efforts are most effective in attaining their goal of quality medical care for Brevardians and all Florida. BCMS members understand that quality medical care means being involved in patient advocacy, public information and health education, and community health affairs. Currently there are 370 members.

A valuable service provided to the community by BCMS is the Physician Referral Service. A phone call to the Society office during normal business hours can provide the caller with information on all Brevard County practicing physicians who are BCMS members. The physician, or potential patient seeking information, can get the names, addresses and telephone numbers of the office of physicians, categorized by primary care, specialty and/or geographic area of Brevard. Information regarding a physician’s schooling and board certification is also available.

BCMS members are concerned about the relationships between physicians and patients. Assistance is available through the BCMS to mediate unresolved grievances, which patients may have regarding their physicians who are Society members. Every effort is made to try to resolve these differences. If differences cannot be resolved, then a written request may be made to the BCMS Grievance Committee for further assistance.

The BCMS office is located at 975 Eyster Boulevard, Building 2-4, Rockledge, Florida in central Brevard County, making it easily accessible from the Melbourne/Palm Bay area to the south and from the Titusville area to the north. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. The telephone number is 632-8481.
