Legislative Committee

The BCMS Legislative Committee represents the interests of you and your patients while tracking potential changes in legislation, medical law and regulation. During the Legislative Session, BCMS staff and members make trips to Tallahassee in order to give you representation on issues that affect you and your patients

Professional Liability Insurance Discount

First Professionals Insurance Company (FPIC) is offering a five percent discount on premiums for BCMS member physicians, which can also be combined with loss free credits for even greater savings.

Physician Referral Service

The BCMS office receives phone calls daily from the public requesting help in finding a doctor. Referrals are made on a rotation basis.

Physician Information Service

The Society office is pleased to answer the numerous inquiries from the public about member physician’s medical backgrounds, board certifications and fellowship training. A wide variety of other patient questions are also answered on a daily basis.

The office also assists with questions from members’ office personnel.

Membership Directory

Every year the BCMS Membership Directory is published. Medical offices use the directory to make referrals to other physicians and to exchange patient care information.

Brevard County Medical Society Publications

Members receive a magazine, The Bulletin, three times annually which contains information on timely topics and issues affecting the practice of medicine. It also contains information regarding BCMS members’ activities, humanitarian projects, achievements, etc. Physicians are encouraged to submit articles concerning their specialty as well as non-medical articles of interest.

Membership Meetings

General membership meetings are held three times a year and are an excellent way to keep in touch with colleagues. Guest speakers provide information on the ever-changing issues in medicine today and other topics.

Peer Review Process

The Professional Review Committee reviews formal complaints and helps members resolve differences with patients. Nonmembers, without this benefit, risk direct DPR action.

Physician CME Courses

BCMS offers courses on important topics that assist in filling your requirements for continuing medical education credits.

Office Staff Training

BCMS offers educational programs for office staff on important topics such as HIPAA, Risk Management, and OSHA Compliance

We Care Physician Referral Network

Through the We Care Program, area physicians, dentists, Brevard County Health Department, and hospital clinics donate their services to those who cannot afford needed medical care.

Discount Programs

BCMS membership includes discount programs for area theme parks, car rental and leasing, as well as preferred vendor discounts.

Presence on the “World Wide Web”

The BCMS website lists the names of member physicians, their specialties and office information. This website also provides links with The Florida Medical Network, area hospitals and provides visitors with a wide range of medical information that is available 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week.
