Largest Crowd Ever For Brevard County Medical Society Installation Dinner

 

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – A packed ballroom at the Melbourne Hilton Rialto Place witnessed Dr. Stephanie Haridopolos’ installation as the 2014 president of the Brevard County Medical Society during the organization’s annual installation dinner last night.

More than 200 local physicians and members of the medical community attended the event, which was keynoted by Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Outgoing BCMS president Dr. John H. Potomski presented the presidential gavel to Dr. Haridopolos, and Judge Michael Rudisill installed the 2014 officers, which included President Elect Devin Datta, MD; Vice President James Glenn, MD; and Treasurer Piyush Joshi, MD.

“We have tonight the largest crowd to date for any installation dinner for the medical society, which we are proud to note,” said Dr. John Potomski.

Father Robert Bruckhart delivered the evening’s invocation.

“We are proud to say that we have had a big impact on the reduction of pill mills in Florida,” said Bondi.

Jeffrey Fisher, Executive Director for the Brevard County Medical Society, presented a check to Sister Clara Kelly of Space Coast Volunteers in Medicine, a free medical and dental clinic located in Brevard County.

Dr. Haridopolos recognized the BCMS past presidents in attendance, including Dr. Kristin Smallwood, Dr. Glenn Bryan, Dr. Lisa Cosgrove, Dr. Brian Dowdell, Dr. Heidar Heshmati and Dr. Lance Grenevicki.

POTOMSKI HAD HUGE POSITIVE IMPACT AS PRESIDENT OF BCMS

Dr. Haridopolos spoke eloquently and with great passion about how great an impact, Dr. John Potomski had on the Brevard County Medical Society as its President for 2013. “Not only has he had an incredible impact on thousands of people as his patients, but he has also reinvigorated the BCMS to what it is today,” said Dr. Haridopolos. “Dr. Potomski is the reason that we have a full ballroom tonight. Thank you Dr. Potomski for doing so much for our community.”

The entertainment was provided by the Brevard Symphony Youth Orchestra. Platinum sponsors for the event were First Choice Medical Group, ExecuSys, Gentiva, Hospice of St. Francis and Vitas.

Dr. Richard Harrison of First Choice Medical Group described how his practice of esteemed physicians serves the community, and how it provides a center of healing excellence for Brevard County. Kris Devitto of Vitas spoke to the group on the positive impact of hospice care.  She discussed how hospice professionals offer pain management and spiritual and emotional support for patients with life-limiting illnesses.
